Greg Day studied fine art and printmaking in (1998) and moved to London in (2001) to work in an art studio.  His practice until this point has been mainly non-gallery based but exhibited in group shows such as the Truman Brewery show, brick Lane (2002), the Intercontinental Peter Blake print show (2006). Working across drawing, photography, mixed media and circulating among his peers, he is exploring the life cycle of man’s contemporary landscape.

Multiple layers of Billboarding and material found in urban environments are used in his work, décollage of the billboards are then placed down showing glimpses of brightly coloured adverts once shown, with layering of posters overlapping and revealing the materials underneath ostensibly creating a semiabstract view of something that is almost graspable. The use of screen printing and its physical sculpture increase the visual complexity.

Greg’ s work is less concerned with a commentary on consumerism but referential in content to the unobtainable, evolving erosion of spaces emerging within built up areas and relevant to the show –‘your garden is looking mess could you please tidy it up and !’
